The dead don't look dead. That's what I've come to learn. Same thing seems to apply to animals. Even if you've watched a recording of someone dying, or seen them from birth up to the open casket, the part when things die never feels real. Death only feels true when you stand in the room where they once lived and breathed and smiled at you, and instead all you feel is how utterly cold the room is.
